From dust to dust (for Opa)

From dust to dust (for Opa) is comprised of eighty-six loons made from adobe.

The multitude of loons are organized in a flocking shape pointed to the corner of a room, and on the wall of the corner about a foot off the ground placed on a tiny white floating shelf is a small figurine of Saint Francis of Assisi that my Opa, which means grandfather in Dutch, gave me when I was younger.

He used to collect wooden decoy ducks. He passed in 2020.  

This piece is in memorial to him.
