Grounding Chair

Grounding Chair serves as a physical artifact of a performance.

The actual act of sitting in the chair is left invisible as it is done privately before the scene is displayed. All one can see is the bricks, the chair, the tub, the dirt, and the small signs of a past presence.

On the floor surrounding the tub are footprints outlined in fine brown dust, residue from a moment in time.

In the dirt, there are two footprints, maybe four inches deep, pressed into the surface. They are bare feet positioned as if someone is sitting in the chair, and all that is left of their body is negative space.
